The 17 million acre Tongass National Forest is the earth's largest remaining temperate rainforest. Located in southeast Alaska, it covers many islands and mainland shores along the famous inside passage. Many Alaska native tribes, towns and communities are located in the region, including Juneau, Alaska's capital city.
