Interior
Interior Alaska is characterized by the boreal forest and expansive flat wetland areas bordered by mountains, and interlaced with rivers. It is a dry climate overall with a warm summer, and at times, a brutally cold winter season. Forest fires are common in the summer, and minus 50 below zero is often reached in the coldest months.
